Gear
The tools behind my writing, development, and everyday workflows.
On this page
The tools I use, and how they fit together. I’m interested in what makes something useful in everyday work.
Writing & organization
Obsidian
My blog posts start here. I keep writing in ordinary Markdown files, alongside notes and reference material, separate from the platform that publishes it.
Things
Where I keep projects and next actions. Getting Things Done has been part of my workflow for years; easy capture and a clear place for each action matter to me.
Building software
Codex
I use it to work on software, including this website. Keeping content and code together lets me work on both, then review the result in the browser.
Claude Code
Another part of my development workflow. Running several tasks in parallel led me to work on isolated environments and ways to keep track of each agent.
Zellij
Terminal tabs and panes for separate tasks. I use it alongside coding agents and ygg to keep parallel work organized.
ygg
My helper for Git worktrees and Zellij. It removes the repetitive setup involved in starting another task in the same repository.
At home
Home Assistant
The center of my home automation. I like routine things happening in the background, with less to manage manually. There is usually something to simplify or improve.
From the archive
Older setups are snapshots of their time: Stage Manager on an M2 iPad Pro from 2022, and photo backups with Docker and Unraid from 2015.
